Well now I know
I was the kid who pointed out wrongs
I did not know that this was making me unpopular
All I knew and saw was some telling lies
And all I knew is that that wasn't right
I stood alone
when I refused to become close to abusers
Exposed to the wrath of others with no backing
Handed to wolves in sheep's clothing
But I stood firm
I stood alone
As I watched the wicked rise
And grow from strength to strength
But knew and somehow understood that time will tell
I stood alone
Vilified and abandoned
Deep in my heart I hurt everyday
And in my head I wonder why wrong seems right
Wrong is being celebrated
Wrong is being encouraged in their daily endeavours
Wrong has become pompous as he and the gang seemed to have won the battle
I stood alone
As I silently prayed
Lord please help me get through this
I hold my breath for what seems to be a hundred years
But rather fifty-four long years
For the fear that if I passed
My name is likely to be tarnished forever
And my descendants become vilified forever
I stood alone
And I stand alone
Today I exhale
Because victory is mine
Truth wins
When the storms raged
I sought a place of refuge in the right place
Today I have deeper and genuine peace, Joy....... and success.
I stood and stand alone for the right reasons.
